Lessons of gratitude from quarantine

Nora and I got sick. As you do when you finally have a whole summer ahead of you and things to experience. You have to lick doorknobs and run fevers and cough. Having the isolated time together, the two of us sleeping weird hours and having heart-to-hearts at one in the morning, has given me a lovely bit of insight:

I'm very, very lucky that I can have the luxury of being sick with my kid. Of lying around watching random stuff that she likes and not feeling pressured to shape her illness recovery into anything efficient or hurried. We are building bonds in these sick days our memories will forget, but should get us through her teenaged years.

Gratitude.
