Weebles Wobble.....
The last two days have been exciting in that dull, housewife kind of way. Sunday Adam and I went to the Lake House to visit with the Family. Reba and Mike had been putting a lot of work in to the house, expanding and redesigning the interior and this weekend was the first time that it was pulled together enough to actually cook in there. I'm really impressed with all of the work they've put in to the place. I think they will be happy there for years to come.
Most of the day was spent rotating the six kids between the adults, with Adam and I being primary Home Base. The kids ranged from eleven months old to ten years old. Five boys, one girl. Having them all out there is great because were weren't trying to squeeze them in to quiet activities. Once you get over the fear that an alligator will eat one while they are playing near the lake, it's a breeze!
We spent eight hours there, with an hour drive each way. It was a LONG day. We came home rested and kind of happy. I mean, who isn't flattered when kids follow you around like the Pied Piper, without the evil agenda?
Monday was Seth Day, of course. Adam had to drive to some tiny Texas town to look at a hole in the ground for his job, so it was just me and Seth all day. We played and laughed. I'm not as persistent with him about his words as I should be. I think that we will work harder on that this week.
I do push his lazy butt when it comes to activity. We walk and walk and walk every Monday. Yesterday it paid off. He's started to trust me enough to reach away from his push cart and in to my arms. He did it a couple of times during the day, but nothing that I could tell his mom. However, once she got there, we were fooling around and he left his push cart to walk to me all by himself! I was so excited. Sure, it was two steps and he wobbled, but I was excited.
Samantha freaked out! Adam FREAKED out. Seth just clung like a little spider monkey. (He was so needy last night.) A little while later we tried it, again, and he walked four steps!
I was pretty excited.
I guess I shouldn't have been, seeing as he's just my nephew, but I like seeing kids develop. Yesterday Seth was doing some problem-solving with his baby brain and I was just tickled. I like watching them figure it out. I get a kick out of seeing how they will fix their problem. Will they mimic something they've seen done, or will they do something I never would have tried?
Always fun.
Today I have to put my time and effort in to cleaning. I let things get away from me Sunday and Monday. I will master my domain, though, never fear.

I also know our worlds and perceptions are probably quite different, but pain... that is one thread we share. You have suffered tragedy and been unusually vulnerable with the details. It has been a bitter drink reading the details, but somehow it has encouraged me. I'm sure I can't explain exactly how... I am of the male sort after all... but it has been a help in the midst of my struggle. Thanks
