How to build family memories
This weekend marked the unofficial start of our family summer. Adam blew up this kiddie pool he'd bought a few weeks ago and we filled it with warm water. The sun was warm and the wind was blowing, but it was cloudy and naturally letting the water heat wasn't going to work. Adam was determined to get Nora out in the pool and play and I made sure it could happen. I hauled bucket after bucket into the backyard while the two of them tossed a ball back and forth.
A week go I wouldn't have done that. I couldn't have done it. My brain wouldn't have thought of a solution and I would've ruined it for everyone.
Instead we splashed in a pool big enough for three and had an amazing weekend. We spent Saturday and Sunday afternoon slathered in sunblock and goofing in the pool. I can see how amazing this summer is going to be.
Nora had a blast. She was brave. So brave. My little girl dove under the water, shooting up, spluttering and laughing as she accidentally inhaled, but it didn't stop her. Over and over, again, her little golden curls dipped below the surface.
I can't keep the smile from my face. We did good, you know?
