In constant flux
I keep trying to summarize my life in these blog posts, but how does one do that when you life is so steeped in the drama of other people you don't know where your information becomes someone else's personal business and, therefore, inappropriate to pass along? I will say that we are always moving and shaking around here. If there were a dull moment I would be grateful for it and embrace it for the rare creature it would represent. So, in an effort to keep my nose out of other people's business I will just babble about my weekend.
This weekend marked a visit from my friend and his wife and their two kids. Mike and I first became friends when we were in junior high school. He was best friends with a boy I was phone dating* and we discovered that we had a lot in common, as well. We managed to remain friends, even though we are now in our thirties and we live hours and hours apart from each other.
Visiting with them was so much fun. Their kids are fantastic and I really enjoyed meeting them. Adam and I drove down to Diho Square with the baby to meet them for some shopping and really good sushi. I picked up something that I wanted (but didn't need) for the baby. She got a brand new parasol with bright red birds and flowers painted on the intense lime-y green material. I would like to make sure that we add to this collection of parasols. I don't think that any girl should be without something as feminine and practical as a parasol when dealing with the heat of Texas. And the more colors and styles, the better!
We also purchased a set of the Chinese zodiac animals. They weren't in order in the box, so I immediately rearranged them when we got home. Because I am crazy.
Adam picked up a set of composite chopsticks in this fantastic red color. I am a complete sucker for red. See, that is a good husband. He bought something for himself that he knew that I would approve of having in the house. Good boy.
After hanging out downtown and going with them to the airport to pick their son up, we drove back to my already full house and flopped out on the floor and talked. We did the math and there were eleven people and one very high-strung dog in the house. I wouldn't say that the place was crowded, but it was feeling very lived in by the end of the evening.
We got up early and talked and talked and talked. They left three hours after they wanted to, but I think we all really enjoyed the visit. I would like to head down to visit them in Beeville.
