Just random stuff from the last few days:

My birthday was lovely. I was drawn from bed with the smell of fresh coffee and freshly baked Angel Food Cake. My husband, who I often demonize as is my nature, had gotten up early to bake me a birthday cake. Ridiculously sweet. It was the perfect way to start the day.

As I was settling into a comfy pj time before bed, I got a text from a friend wanting to know if I wanted to grab a birthday drink. I threw on some clothes and we headed out. The most hilarious part of the whole evening was that several 24 year old men (boys) hit on me. How funny is that? I'm eleven years their senior. Apparently I will make a fantastic Cougar.

My daughter is trying to cut all four of her canines and two of her molars all that the same time. I can say that she cut one of the canines, so she only has three to go and the two molars? Anyway, I'm not getting much sleep. I know, there's things I can do, but mostly she wants to wake up in the middle of the night and snuggle with me while being grumpy. I have a hard time sleeping before she's completely motionless, so I'm not getting much sleep. Nora likes to sleep on her stomach, but that means she puts pressure on the sides of her face and the dull ache of sprouting teeth keeps her from falling into deep sleep. It's all part of being a mother, right?

My friend, Amy, who is a graphic designer, created this character a while back and I've been writing children's stories for him. What I'm doing is pretty rough, but we're supposed to get together this week to flesh out the target age and how much she wants to illustrate before we finish the books. Yes, I'm planning to make a series of books with Amy. Since everything is still really new, that's all I'll say for now. Knowing my history, the whole thing will fall apart before we even get it off the ground.

I have zero technique and even worse supplies, but I made my first sushi-type stuff this weekend. Is it still sushi if it's cucumber rolls?? Anyway, I made the sticky rice and hand rolled the stuffed seaweed. We had a large batch and we ate almost all of it. There was just enough for me to put in Adam's lunch for the next day. I'd like to try different things, eventually. It's very labor intensive and being a novice makes it take longer than it really should.

I suppose that is it, for now. I'm delirious and should force myself to make more coffee so that I can stop being MomZombie for Nora. I haven't been a very active mother the last couple of days. I'm there, but sort of from across the room while I let walls and doors prop me up while I watch her play. Heh.
